Welcome to Act One, produced by Courtyard Entertainment.
By accessing, listening to, downloading, streaming, or submitting material to the Podcast, you agree to comply with these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not access or use the Podcast or submit material.
1. Intellectual Property Ownership
1.1 All scripts, performances, interviews, and other material submitted to or featured on Act One (collectively, the “Works”) are owned by the respective authors.
1.2 Participation in the Podcast does not transfer ownership of the Works to Courtyard Entertainment. Authors retain full copyrights and other intellectual property rights unless otherwise explicitly agreed in writing.
1.3 Courtyard Entertainment retains rights to record, distribute, and promote podcast content as authorized by participating guests under the Act One Participation Agreement.
2. Submission of Material
2.1 By submitting a script or other material (“Submission”), you represent and warrant that you are the sole author or otherwise have full authority to submit the Work.
2.2 You grant Courtyard Entertainment a non-exclusive, revocable license to review your Submission for consideration in the Podcast.
2.3 All Submissions are voluntary. Courtyard Entertainment is under no obligation to review, select, or use any submitted material.
2.4 If your Submission is selected, you will be required to sign the Act One Participation Agreement before your material is recorded, performed, or distributed.
3. Listener Obligations and Prohibited Uses
3.1 By listening to, downloading, or streaming any episode of the Podcast (“Listening”), you agree not to:

Copy, reproduce, distribute, adapt, publicly display, or otherwise exploit any Work;
Claim authorship of any Work;
Plagiarize, transcribe, reverse engineer, or create derivative works based on any material in the Podcast;
Use any material to pitch, develop, or produce a project without express written permission from the author and/or Courtyard Entertainment.

3.2 Unauthorized use will result in legal action, including but not limited to injunctive relief, monetary damages, and recovery of attorneys’ fees.
4. Production Credit
4.1 If a guest’s participation in Act One directly or indirectly results in funding, development, or production of the Work, Courtyard Entertainment is entitled to receive Production Company credit as set forth in the Act One Participation Agreement.
4.2 Courtyard Entertainment has no obligation to participate in any production beyond receiving credit.
4.3 Courtyard Entertainment may, at its sole discretion, decline or remove its credit from any production at any time.
5. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
5.1 The views and opinions expressed by guests are their own and do not necessarily reflect those of Courtyard Entertainment.
5.2 Courtyard Entertainment does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of any content on the Podcast.
5.3 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Courtyard Entertainment shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of access to, use of, or reliance on the Podcast or any Submission.
6. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
6.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflicts of law principles.
6.2 Any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.
7. Modifications
Courtyard Entertainment reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on courtyardentertainment.com/terms and are effective immediately upon posting. Continued use of the Podcast constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
